Trump Pleads Not Guilty in Jan 6. Case, Charges Pile Up

In a story that has gripped the nation over the last couple of months or so, Donald Trump has officially been indicted of four criminal charges in regards to the results of the 2020 election. The 45th president has been in a legal battle evident of massive stakes.

Not only can this leave a federal mark on Trump’s so-called “invincibility”, but it also may severely dampen his chances in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. This implication is certainly on Trump and his legal team’s mind as they try their best to deflect any possible defamation coming their way. Trump is expected to securely win the Republican party’s nomination for the third straight election season. His closest rival, radical Floridian governor Ron Desantis, continues to mention to the public every possible opportunity of the hot water that the former president is in.

Trump’s charges range in severity, but none look good on a resume for the leader of the United States. A main charge is a conspiracy to violate rights, an offense that could be a maximum of 10 years in prison. This mainly includes Trump’s actions of saying that the election was “a fraud” despite knowing the legitimate results. In the end, prosecutors are linking Trump to the Jan. 6th Capitol Hill riot as his master plan of essentially trying to force the hand of democracy.

Although it is unlikely that Trump will get a serious punishment of prison time, the consequences below the surface could be lethal to his hopes of securing a Republican bid and vying for the White House once more.
