With the pandemic’s cases starting to rise again, it is becoming more difficult to find hope and solace during these trying times of humanity. The Delta variant for instance has raised concerns throughout international communities. The highly contagious version of COVID-19 has been the epicenter of worldwide attention, mainly because the Delta variant has accounted for the majority of the cases.
While the United States have strived for vaccination progress and have partly succeeded, it is still a problem. Not enough people are getting fully vaccinated, despite best efforts to contain the Delta variant. While some countries attribute their lack of vaccination progress to their current economical stance, the United States has no excuse such as this. They are a fully developed country, with a strong, functional economy to back up the downfalls suffered during the past year. So why is America along with the rest of the planet not “flattening the curve?”
The main reason why the country is struggling to contain Delta is because of the refusal to simply get the shot. Why is the concern here though? Scientifically proven, several tests, yet people still decide that they are too good enough for the vaccine. These two shots save lives. They are highly successful in providing immunity for the virus, including the Delta variant. They offer us a chance to return to full normality. A chance of life that is in the back of our minds, the life that we all want.
However, people don’t always listen to the rules. They wear masks improperly, calling them a hassle to their daily lives. They are not only risking their own lives, but others around them. They also do not follow safety precautions necessary. I sometimes think and wonder: do these people understand the impact they are making? They risk the lives of doctors and nurses and fill hospitals, all because they cannot do their part to help.
We need to get vaccinated, so our lives can return to the past. If we wear masks correctly, mandate vaccines, and stop Delta altogether, it will not only end the pandemic but save all of humanity as we speak.
