When one thinks about Elon Musk, the first thing that may pop up in their mind would be money. Elon Musk, eccentric CEO and big buyer of both X (formally Twitter) and Tesla, recently took the throne of the richest man alive. Despite several critics of his aggressive style of entrepreneurship, his overall ingenuity for business cannot be denied. The founder of Paypal, Musk has had a meteoric rise in both prestige and power over the last fifteen or so years. His ambition is out of this world as well, and not on a metaphorical basis. Taking on a recent political position in the government under President-elect Trump, Musk has taken to social media to voice his opinion on what the current administration can be doing better.
One of the things that Musk is doing his best to spread cracks on is the bipartisan spending bill. Attempting to avoid a government shutdown, both parties are open to this bill, which allows government money to continue to be used through the March deadline. Despite several Republicans voicing their support on this measure, Donald Trump and Elon Musk alike have voiced their harsh criticisms. Trump and his Vice President J.D. Vance have used the conservative, right-wing platform “Truth Social” to throw heavy complaints, while Musk has been loud on his own platform, X. It marks a new change to the government situation and how social media has made a rapid increase in political popularity.
Despite these efforts, the spending bill passed both the House and Senate. Later, President Biden signed the bill close after midnight, just a few hours after the official deadline had passed. However, there will be no foreseeable shutdown for the holiday season ahead. Yet it will be an interesting watch to see how Musk taps into his social media logic as he rises to a greater position into the public spotlight.
