Microsoft Outage Causes Widespread Panic

In just a span of 24 hours, the entire world shut down. Airlines grounded their flights, news sites went down in minutes, and the international community went into an absolute frenzy. No, there was not another pandemic. A massive Crowdstrike-Microsoft outage had occurred.

The issue came down to a piece of simple computer code that was jumbled in the system. What resulted were a slew of problems around the world. This highlighted the severe dependency the global community had on the Crowdstrike-Microsoft network. From hospitals to businesses, their security firms went down in an instant.

Quickly, the blame game was played. Microsoft’s chief executive Satya Nadella put the fault straight on Crowdstrike, swiftly removing Microsoft from the heat of the public. Crowdstrike’s chief executive George Kurtz said on the Today Show that Crowdstrike took full responsibility for the mistake.

With the problem now fixed, tech experts worry about the future. A crowd outage like this had never happened before. The future looks uncertain, but hopefully the tech community buckles down and leans less on a singular entity.
