In what has been turmoil throughout the country, Israel’s democracy is at stake.
Jerusalem has been stormed with thousands of protestors, looking to share their discontent with the nation’s planned idea of overturning the judicial system. The key instigator behind this is Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose right-wing party is looking to limit the power of the supreme court.
This move has split the nation’s citizens. On one hand, some want a “pluralistic”, co-existing society, more adaptable and modernistic. The flip side wants to remain more nationalistic and a religiously-bound society.
What the government decides will shape Israel for sure: whether that be positive or negative is still yet to be determined.
