When the global community thinks of BTS, they think of the seven superstars taking over the world. The KPOP group is creating contemporary Billboard Hot 100 hits at a pace rivaling even the greatest of bands. Their stardom however has been far from unprecedented.
BTS consists of Jin, Jimin, Suga, Jungkook, RM, J-Hope, and V, recently released their new hit single Permission to Dance, which has taken the music community by absolute storm. The song as of August 8th has racked up over 191 million views on Spotify, which is ridiculous within itself. What makes the feat even more outstanding is the fact that the group achieved the amount of views in just 16 days!
Their previous song to Permission to Dance was their single Butter, which was released on June 4th. The song has had over 470 million streams on Spotify up to date. It’s quite incredible to see how far BTS has come from their 2013 debut.
The only accolade eluding BTS? A Grammy win. BTS was nominated for a Grammy this year, but failed to win their respective category. Along with their upcoming military service (South Korea makes military service mandatory for all men fit to serve), BTS fans called “ARMY” believe that the group has a few years at most to win music’s highest honor.
Even with the pressure, the band has the confidence and international growth to dominate the music industry. For now though, as long as BTS make continuous hits such as Butter and Permission to Dance, BTS will win that award.
