In a shocking and dramatic turn of events, Roe V Wade was officially overturned today by the Supreme Court by a 6-3 vote, thus officially banning federal responsibility on the act of abortion. The highest court of the land stated that this right belongs to the states and promptly ended the constitutional right of abortion as well.
The Center for Reproductive Rights and the New York Times both report respectively that approximately half of the nation’s states will begin implementing harsh restrictions on the idea of abortion. States such as Texas and Oklahoma were already nearly impossible to get safe, legal abortions. Now, they will add more measures to crack down on abortion. ‘
Oklahoma for instance had trigger bans regarding abortion, which means that after the ruling of Roe V Wade, the state ruled that they would repeal abortion if the Supreme Court happened to limit or change the ruling of the case entirely.
Protests around the country have already begun, with President Joe Biden stating that the court has made a “grave mistake” on the issue. America has just opened up a whole new can of worms. This isn’t going to help unify citizens and cause peace. No, this could very well end our country’s definition of strong, brave, powerful women as we all know it.
