President Joe Biden recently released a new plan in Congress, with its estimated worth being over $3.5 trillion dollars. The plan is scheduled to “combine major initiatives on the economy, education, social welfare, climate change and foreign policy”, according to the New York Times. Biden is expected to completely change the national tax code, effectively taxing billions of dollars every year from the United States’ largest and wealthiest companies and humans.
His plan is currently on hold, as it needs to pass through Congress first before it can be legalized completely. The Democrats are trying to force the bill past opposition, mainly the Republicans. Yet even some Democrats are seemingly conflicted between the President’s “ambitious” plans.
Critics of Biden say that the massive plan will be too extensive, and will collapse within itself. Since the bill aims to tackle several problems, it is possible that the underlying weight of the economy and such could make Biden’s plan even tougher to pass.
Regardless, what President Biden is attempting to do has lofty goals, but important ones to talk about. Climate change is something that Biden has spoken vehemently about, and he has stressed the importance of making a difference on an international scale by the year 2028. If the plan passes, the US could raise many lower/middle class lives for the better.
