Though the Gaza conflict is what has been trending recently, Israel has been fighting on numerous fronts against a variety of nations. In Gaza, the war against Hamas has been deadly, with both sides enforcing numerous causalities at an alarming rate. But this isn’t the only place that is causing Israeli military to spring into action.
Over on the West Bank, Israel has been relentless against Palestine. Raiding West Bank cities, the Israeli military has killed some 600 civilians in under a year. Israel has ramped up these attacks mainly against militant groups to suppress violent uprisings. However, what has resulted is a large quantity of bloodshed on both sides.
In Lebanon, Israel has battered around the region because of Lebanon’s strong link to Hamas and similar militia groups. Both sides have avoided a devastating ground battle however, as Israel and Lebanon both have specific advantages that could destroy either nation in rapid succession. For now, missile fire and rockets have been exchanged.
Finally, Iran and Israel are also tangled up in a battle of their own. It is evident that both sides refuse to respect each other. In result, tensions remain high. An April Israeli military strike on an Iranian embassy in Syria was the tipping point. Iran responded with military strikes of their own and vowed future repercussions.
It becomes a valid question to ask if Israel can continue to fight on all these fronts. The rest of the world watches in anxious glances, hoping that peace can be reached.
