Kamala Harris is Storming Back

Since taking over the Democratic nomination for the presidency, Kamala Harris is not messing around. It’s been less than a month since current President Joe Biden shockingly dropped out of the race. Democrats, scrambling after a subpar debate performance against Republican challenger and former President Donald Trump, backed Kamala Harris without much thought. With just months until November, the Democrats have surprisingly unified under the Vice President. And now, it’s working in the polls.

Biden, who trailed significantly in states in the “Sun Belt” (generally in the South) has now closed the gap on some areas with rapid pace. A recent New York Times and Siena-partnered poll has put the data numbers to the opinions. Particularly, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina has been drawn back into the mix as a contention state.

Harris has a 50-to-45-percent lead on Arizona in terms of pre-polls. Harris also has a slight lead in North Carolina (49 to 47 percent). Nevada and Georgia (47 to 48 in favor of Trump and 46 to 50 in favor of Trump respectively) have also suddenly become battleground states.

Though these margins are just estimates, it shows without a doubt that Kamala Harris has rejuvenated the Democrats’ chances of winning the election. As election season continues, this blue momentum could be something to look at.
