The Lake City Ammunition Plant, located in Independence, Missouri, is making millions of rounds for semi-automatic weapons. Once an army plant, the business has since moved to more commercially applicable routes, distributing many bullets to gun owners.
The only problem is that these rounds have been left as remains in some of the worst mass shootings in American history.
From the devastating Parkland shooting to Uvalde and everything in between, The LC markings of the bullets have brought the Lake City plant under heavy fire.
Producing semi-automatic AR-15 bullets, the company continues to maintain a healthy relationship with the government. It’s a scary sight to see however that one company can produce so many bullets, and if those bullets end up in the wrong hands, it can have life-threatening, devastating consequences.
The New York Times reported that the US Army funded the Lake City plant back into relevancy by plugging in $50 million to revamp ammunition production again. Since then, the government has tended to some of the concerns that the plant may have.
While mass shootings aren’t the sole fault of ammunition manufacturers, it is a worrying sign if this plant turns into a mass monopoly of bullets.
